This year, RAPS, in partnership with A Concertação pela Amazônia (Concerting for the Amazon), analyzed the votes of the benches of the 9 states of the Legal Amazon in the National Congress on seven issues of great relevance to the sustainability agenda, using its own legislative monitoring tool. In this study, it was identified, among other things, that the majority of the region’s parliamentarians vote against environmental protection projects.

On September 22, the detailed results of the survey will be presented at Climate Week 2022 NYC in an online Panel from 5:00-6:30 pm EST. Besides this presentation, a discussion will be proposed among various actors from the National Congress, academia, and civil society about the role of parliament in the defense and development of environmental agendas, with emphasis on the Amazon region.
