Workgroups
Bioeconomy
Objective: The Bioeconomy Working Group aims to promote collective, participatory and inclusive actions in favor of the Amazon’s bioeconomy, based on affinities and synergies around areas of interest, with a focus on the sustainable business ecosystem, investments and the production of knowledge linked to the region’s socio-biodiversity. To act as a reference, creating connections in order to aggregate forces between institutions and projects, catalyzing agendas and enhancing solutions that accelerate the transition and advancement of sustainable development in the Amazon.
Education
Objective: The Education Working Group has three focuses for 2023: a) consolidating the A Concertation for the Amazon initiative as a hub of knowledge on education in the Legal Amazon territory, by producing articles and reports on experiences, curating content on the subject and surveying good practices in the territory; b) reflecting on and building processes aimed at the modalities of rural education, indigenous school education and quilombola school education; c) thinking about productions and processes for developing teaching and pedagogical materials whose premise is collaboration between the actors in the ecosystem and the connection with the training of educators. Cross-cutting all of these focuses is inclusive education as a premise for promoting the all-round development of all students.
Youth
Objectives: The aim of the Concertação Youth Working Group (WG) is to listen to, include and represent the diverse voices of the young population of the Amazon region. Brazilian youth, made up of almost 50 million citizens between the ages of 15 and 29 – approximately 7.7 million of whom live in the Legal Amazon – play a fundamental role in discussions related to the present and future of the region, considering the demographic boom that the region is experiencing and which is expected to grow in the coming years, according to data from Amazônia 2030. In this sense, the Youth WG is a space for the articulation and empowerment of the various Amazonian youths, with the capacity to cover the entire territory. The group acts in a comprehensive, consultative and constructive manner in all the initiative’s areas of activity, seeking to make a significant contribution to the construction of policies and actions that benefit young people and promote the sustainable development of the Amazon.
Territorial Planning and Regularization
Objective: The Working Group on Territorial Planning and Land Regularization aims to promote the understanding that territorial planning and land regularization are essential processes for sustainable development and for curbing illegal deforestation in the Amazon. To this end, the group proposes to qualify the debate on these issues, identifying bottlenecks and potential, as well as recommendations for overcoming the land chaos in the region. The group also seeks to bring together the key players involved in this dynamic, debating, generating and sharing knowledge, as well as coordinating the implementation of projects that can contribute to this agenda and help overcome historical barriers that persist to this day.
