The Amazon and the paths to COP26

The 3rd plenary session of the initiative A Concert for the Amazon aims to promote a dialogue between
perspectives of the economy and the financial system in relation to new models for development
of the Amazon.


The Economics of Biodiversity: The Dasgupta Review is an independent, global review of the
Biodiversity Economics led by Professor Sir Partha Dasgupta (Frank Ramsey Professor Emeritus,
Cambridge University). He calls on us to make changes in the way we think, act and
We measure economic success to protect and enhance our prosperity and the natural world. Based on
a deep understanding of ecosystem processes and how they are affected by activity
economic, the study presents ways in which we must account for nature in the economy and in making
of decisions.


In 2020, the three largest private banks in Brazil – Bradesco, Itaú and Santander – joined forces to make it possible
measures for the development and preservation of the Amazon ecosystem. From the recognition
of the importance of the financial sector’s contribution to the region’s sustainable development, ten
Concrete measures have been adopted and are underway to implement them.
To build bridges for this dialogue, Chatham’s Rethinking Amazon initiative will be represented
House (especially regarding the role of national and international investors) and experiences of the
local private sector on the opportunities and challenges for a new development for the Amazon.
