Bioeconomy

Objective:The Bioeconomy Working Group aims to promote collective, participatory and inclusive actions in favor of the Amazon bioeconomy, based on affinities and synergies around areas of interest, focusing in the sustainable business ecosystem, investments and production of knowledge linked to the region’s socio-biodiversity. Act as a reference, creating connections in order to aggregate forces between institutions and projects, catalyzing agendas and enhancing solutions that accelerate the transition and advancement of sustainable development in the Amazon.

Education

Objective:The Education Working Group aims to focus on three areas of action in 2023: a) consolidate the initiative Uma Concertação pela Amazônia as a knowledge hub on education in the territory of the Legal Amazon, through the production of articles and experience reports, curation of content on the topic and survey of good practices in the territory; b) reflect and build processes aimed at rural education, indigenous school education and quilombola school education; c) think about productions and development processes of didactic and pedagogical materials that are premised on collaboration between ecosystem actors and the connection with the training of educators. Transversal to all these focuses, there is inclusive education as a premise to promote the integral development of all students.

Objective: The Political Intelligence Working Group aims to monitor and analyze socio-environmental issues in the federal legislative and executive branches and in public debate. Through active monitoring, the group seeks to anticipate agendas and changes in the political scenario and reduce the information and political intelligence deficit of organizations in the socio-environmental field that work with political action, mobilization, incidence and advocacy.

infrastructure
Socioterritorial

Objective:The Socio-Territorial Infrastructure Working Group aims to develop a Taxonomy for classifying existing and projected infrastructure for the Brazilian Amazon, under the lens of sustainable development, whose criteria are defined from and to the Amazon territories, in order to guide public policies and the planning of new infrastructure.

Society and Culture

Objective:The Society and Culture Working Group aims to provide a space for dialogue and action on the sociocultural diversity of the Amazon. The group seeks ways to reveal the nuances and layers of this diversity, so that art and culture go beyond the illustrative and entertainment aspect, and begin to be considered as sources of sensitive information and involvement with this territory.

Youth

Objectives:The Concertação Youth Working Group (GT) aims to listen, include and represent the diverse voices of the young population of the Amazon region. Brazilian youth, made up of almost 50 million citizens between 15 and 29 years old – with approximately 7.7 million of them residing in the Legal Amazon – plays a fundamental role in discussions related to the present and future of the region, considering the moment of demographic boom that the region is experiencing and that growth is expected in the coming years, as shown by data from Amazônia 2030. In this sense, GT Juventudes is a space for articulation and empowerment of the various Amazonian youth, with the capacity to cover the entire territory. The group acts in a comprehensive, consultative and constructive manner in all areas of the initiative, seeking to contribute significantly to the construction of policies and actions that benefit young people and promote the sustainable development of the Amazon.

Mining

Objectives:The Mining Working Group aims to qualify the debate on Mining and Sustainable Development in the Amazon; Debate and improve company policies and practices in relation to already established legal parameters and ILO convention 169. Contribute to policies and practices aimed at territorial governance, with a focus on sustainable development; Provide technical contributions on combating crime and illegalities linked to the sector (illegal mining, gold chain, extrusion on indigenous lands) and; Reflect, debate and influence economic alternatives to illegal mining, for a fair and sustainable transition, and on the conditions for economic diversification and strengthening of alternative and complementary chains, in the context of industrial mining.

Territorial Planning and Land Regularization

Objective:The Territorial Planning and Land Regularization Working Group aims to promote the understanding that territorial planning and land regularization are essential processes for sustainable development and to curb illegal deforestation in the Amazon. To this end, the group proposes to qualify the debate on these topics, identifying bottlenecks and potentialities, as well as recommendations to overcome land chaos in the region. The group also seeks to bring together the key actors involved in this dynamic, debating, generating and sharing knowledge, as well as articulating the implementation of projects that can contribute to this agenda and help overcome historical barriers that persist to this day.</ p>
