Business for Nature (BfN), together with the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Brazil), the Brazilian Foundation for Sustainable Development (FBDS), The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and WWF-Brazil, will hold the event “Reaching a transformative post-2020 global agreement: Means of Implementation to achieve ambition” on November 25 from 9:30am – 11am.
The event aims to foster the importance of the debate on how the Global Biodiversity Framework post-2020, which is being drafted by the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), can lead to a necessary transformation of economic and financial systems towards equity and carbon neutrality in a nature-positive world, focusing on the means of implementation needed to achieve the required ambition.
The event will bring together leading representatives from the Brazilian government, the business community, and representatives from financial institutions to discuss the importance of biodiversity conservation and sustainable strategies allied with business, from the Brazilian perspective, in order to contribute to the maintenance of biodiversity and ensure a sustainable society. Concrete examples will be presented, involving supply chain, in order to think about which elements are necessary to reproduce the success cases.
Themes of great relevance for the Brazilian scenario, such as fighting illegal deforestation, financing a new economy, and sharing the benefits obtained from the use of this biodiversity will be the focus of the event.
