Julie Dorrico

A PhD candidate in Letters at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). She is the author of I Am Macuxi and Other Stories (Eu sou macuxi e outras histórias, published by Editora Caos e Letras in 2019). She runs the page @leiamulheresindigenas and the YouTube channel Literatura Indígena Contemporânea (Contemporary Indigenous Literature). As a researcher and curator, she is committed to promoting Indigenous-authored literature in Brazil. “Through Indigenous literature, starting from the very act of pronouncing certain names, we get to know some peoples and other Indigenous languages. Literature also helps us get to know the territories.”
